What is a 'section'? How is it different from category?
'Section' means a group of articles under a category. For example: if you have 10 articles under a category, you can group 4 of them to display on a page as a section.
See example here:
There are 10 articles under a category. You want 3 of them under different category, but you DON'T want to create a sub-category because it will create one folder depth for search engines.
So instead of this:
/category1/subcategory1/article1/
/category1/subcategory1/article2/
/category1/subcategory1/article3/
You create a section under 'category1' called 'section1' and list them on this 'section1' page. Like this:
/category1/section1/
On this 'section1' page those 3 articles display.
This way the articles will stay in top level folder but still be grouped.
Disadvantage of this sections: You can not list many articles under one section as all these articles will be listed on one single page, loading time will be more. Maximum of 50 articles will be ok.
Options to create a section:
Select parent category:
Select the already existing category from dropdown list under which you want this section.
Name:
Name of the category. This will become title for the section page.
URL tag:
Only letters and numbers. No special characters are allowed. Spaces are replaced by the hyphen.
Description, keywords:
Specific to that category pages where articles will be listed.
How to use this feature?
While you adding article at 'add content' link, you have to choose the category at 'Choose category' drop down box. Once you select a category, if there are any sections under it, the 'Choose sections' dropdown box will be updated automatically. So you can select the section you want the article to be listed under.
Note on 'Sections':
Where sections display on web site:
They will be listed under 'Categories' on category pages. See here:

See the HTML display on top. Next is 'Categories' header. Third is 'Sections' header. We have sections listed out there.
Need to add article to display:
Until you add atleast one article under a section of a category, that section won't display on web site.
