Subscription:
Subscription is a process in which a person enters his/her details in a form and enter into your list to receive your emails. These details can be simple email or email, name and other details based on your purpose of collecting email.
Example: If you want to send a free report you don't need more than the email and name. If you are doing some demographic research on your sales, then you need email, name, city and country of the subscriber.
Subscription form:
A form that is used to get your visitors details that acts as a front end for your autoresponder or mailing list software.
Unsubscribe link:
When a person signs-up for your newsletter or list, you need to provide a way for your subscriber to come out of your list. You can do this by keeping an unsubscription link. Unsubscription link is a clickable link in your out-going emails which your subscriber clicks and confirms his/her unsubscription to come out of your list.
Email Newsletter:
Email newsletter is simply digital version of any paperback newsletter. Email newsletters are more easy to manage and send them to your subscribers. Everything will be done online which reduces the cost of sending newsletter. Plus more usage of emailings by online users make it easy to reach wide range of subscribers.
Cron:
Cron is a server side function that do certain repeated things automatically without your intervention. Example: Backing up your web site files every night and send them to your email. We use this cron jobs to send preset messages in the autoresponders.
Image pixel activation:
A small one pixel image will be kept on your webpage(s) which activates the autoresponder script to send follow ups. But this method depends on the web page visitors and very unreliable.
Custom fields:
Custom fields are the data/block of text that is specific for a subscriber/autoresponder/newsletter. You can use these custom fields feature of your software to include advertisements, links and subscriber specific details in your emails.
Spam:
Spam is sending email in bulk to people who would not otherwise choose to receive your emails. The ftc.gov set up some rules to deal with this spam.

Double opt-in (verified opt-in, Permission based email marketing):
When a subscribers enter their details into a subscription form, they will be sent an email with a link to click and confirm their subscription. This process is called double opt-in or verified opt-in. This strategy is called permission based email marketing.
Email deliverability:
Email deliverability is about getting the email delivered into your subscribers inboxes. Email deliverability depends on many criteria like clean list, your server issues like ip, spf record etc and issues related to your recepients mail server.
Email bounces:
Email bounce means the email that you have sent will be rejected and comes back to your mail server. Bounces can be soft bounce or hard bounce. Soft bounce is when the email is sent back when the recepients inbox is full. Hard bounce is when the recepient's main server is down or no email account exists on the server. You can try sending email again if it is a soft bounce as it might go through.
