The other thing I'm stumped on, is I cannot see how to insert personalised text. On most autoresponders you can put something such as %%name%% and it will insert the subscribers name. Does this one have anything like that?

Yes. You can use tags like {name} or [custom_field] to personalise the email.

Once you keep these tags in email, script replaces them with text/html that you added under it. You can send promotional links, signature files, ads, call your subscribers with their names etc.
